Patient Monitors and Stress System – Medical Breakthroughs

Posted by admin | General Health | Saturday 27 June 2009 1:20 pm

The advancement in technology has greatly affected and improved the quality of human life. One major output of technological advancement is the introduction of different automated medical devices. Automated medical devices were invented and developed to assist in diagnosis, treatment, therapy and surgery of human beings. Two good examples of these medical devices that are used to save many lives are patient monitors and stress systems.

When a patient is in critical condition, patient monitors are used for accurate monitoring of vital signs through a display similar to a television screen. Aside from display of data, advanced model of patient monitors allow retrieval and transmission of the patient’s data through a network into a nearby computer for intensive analysis of data or into a database for safekeeping of data. To avoid unfortunate death, patients that are diagnosed with high risk conditions have their patient monitors continuously checked by a doctor or nurse for real time update of the patient’s health status.

On the other hand, stress systems are medical devices used to estimate the levels of stress of a patient. Based on the reliable and accurate results of stress testing, correct diagnosis is made and the patient is given medical advices that can help in improving his health conditions and lower his stress levels. Stress systems are typically comprised of a treadmill, a display screen and data storage capability. Different stress systems employ tailored algorithms flexible enough to accommodate a wide range of human stress testing.
